Kendra Baird is a young, very talented and creative artist whose works of art grace the offices and homes of Charlotte, North Caroline.  Kendra grew up in rural Ohio near Springfield, but was later lured away from her country setting by Southern culture and charm. Here is her biographical sketch...

"Growing up in rural Ohio, I never dreamed that one day I would be working as an artist in the NoDa (Charlotte's Historic Arts District) community of Charlotte, North Carolina. But after the influence of my high school art teacher, I left my comfortable, yet boring, state university and went off to the Savannah College of Art and Design where I fell in love with all types of art and creative design. While there I majored in graphic design and minored in drawing. I have lived in Charlotte, and have been working towards a career as a full time artist, for the past three years - all while working as a freelance graphic designer."

"Having never taken a painting class outside of my high school curriculum - all of my artwork has been created through experimentation backed by a strong knowledge of drawing and design. When I am creating, I first like to make sure the painting is designed well and could be used as a design element in someone's home or office. On a deeper level, I like to leave room for connections between the subject matter of the artwork and my audience... allowing the viewer to create their own story behind the subject of the painting.  Each painting has a personal meaning, as well as, something obvious and something buried in the art.  Often the subject is as simple as a mischievous frog peeking out from behind a wall, while at other times, it is as complex as a woman losing her identity to the complexities of life."

"My art doesn't exist only in my studio... during college I went on two mission trips to the islands of the Bahamas to help paint murals at schools for less fortunate children. Now I live just outside of the NoDa community in Belmont where I have discovered a community of children eager to embrace their artistic creativity.  My afternoons are often spent on the front porch painting with the a group of children, encouraging their talents and creating their dreams."
