It is our pleasure to introduce artist Bobbi Baugh to the Steele Pointe Gallery’s casual viewers and clients. Rita and I met Bobbi in Philadelphia and immediately fell in love with her creations, they are truly wonderful... completely un-burdened souls.

   Bobbi’s clay, fabric and fiber sculptures are a celebration of wrinkled beauty and feisty spirits. They are wise beyond their apparent ages and an embodiment of youthful cantor and shameless spirit.

   Each creation is custom made following a basic commonality of features... variations to fit specific likes and decor are easily accommodated. The gallery puts the client and artist directly in contact with each other to further enable these variations.

   Bobbi and her husband live in DeLand Florida where they own a printing and nameplate production company. Bobbi is the company’s creative design genius which she describes as sometimes high tech and stressful. Bobbi’s sculptures help balance her life... low tech and therapeutic.

   She began by creating Saint Nicholas figures in 1993 as donations to fine art auctions. To some surprise the bidding was active and the demand soared. "People just seemed drawn to their quirky faces and their larger-than-normal presence. I began to create more pieces and selling them in the DeLand historic downtown district."

"What I enjoy most is creating custom works, designed to fit a particular space. When I begin work for a client, I like knowing if the work will go at the base of the stairwell, on or near the hearth, or, possibly, as the center piece in the foyer. I construct the figure with its placement in mind, envisioning how the colors and textures will fit with the surroundings."

"Because I am both an artist and a business person, I know how important it is to be able to rely on the person whom you have contracted to perform the work. I take deadlines seriously and honor commitments. I do not accept orders for more work than I am sure that I can create. And I personally handle all the arrangement for the swift and safe handling and shipment of the artwork."
