Featured Artist

Esther Benedict came to my attention a few years back.  I was approached by an artist friend who said that his sister and the owner of a nearby up-scale golf course were looking for an artist of full-sized metal sculptured horses.  The owner of the golf course already had in place several metal horse sculpted by an artist here in Ohio.  And as hard as I tried no one was able to come up with a full name for the artist... I even looked under the underbelly of the horse to see if it was there... and it wasn't.  Several artist acquaintances, living in the same city as the sculptor were contacted, and the best (and probably the most unreliable) information that I received was that the artist was hiding out from the IRS... the truth is yet to be known.

Not to be deterred, I began searching for an artist who could meet the needs of my second-hand clientele.  Several metal sculptors emerged, but most had never actually been asked to created a full-sized horse before and they were less than enthusiastic about taking on the challenge.  Standing out... clearly in a pasture all by herself was Esther Benedict, clearly an artist with exceptional talent, skills and experience. I approached her about taking on the task and she agreed to do so. ...And even though neither of the commissions worked out on the client end, Esther has remained one of the most outstanding and easy-to-work-with artists with whom we are associated.

We are extreme fortunate to have within our community one of Esther's most avid fans,,, the Don Bauer Family from Urbana, Ohio.  Don has several pieces by Esther in his home, near his stables, and in his gardens.  Most notable is a piece entitled "The Man Who Dances with Horses", a tribute in remembrance to Garth Harrison, trainer, instructor, friend...  Images of this piece can be found in Esther's Gallery below.

Also included, at a hyperlinked page, is a copy of Esther Benedict's Artist Profile.  Most artist statements are pretty pasty (hard too get through), but not Esther's... I have read it on several occasions and I always find it interesting and relevant... I encourage you to review it as well.  [Esther Benedict's Artist Profile]

If you are interested in purchasing a sculptured piece of Esther I encourage you to contact the Steele Pointe Gallery first.  By doing so we can screen and refine your ideas and the gallery can approach Esther with a reasonably clear indication of what you are looking for... including photographic images of where the piece will located and what special additions you would like added.  After the initial work is done you will be contacted by Esther who will provide you with concept drawings and ideas.  Work will not begin until you are completely satisfied with the proposal.  Once completed and shipped the Gallery will assist you - if needed - in the placement process.

The images that appear below have been downloaded from Esther's website... which you are welcome to visit as well... www.estherbenedict.com .  Some or most of these works may have been sold... the purpose of the gallery is to give you an idea of the possibilities.  If there is a piece that you especially like, a similar piece can be made with your specifications.  If you are interested in approximate costs... contact the gallery.
