Herschel Fall is an Indiana native and self-taught artist. Herschel grew up poor and used art as a means of escape his environment. His art did not go unrecognized by those around him, with the encouragement of teachers and friends, Herschel began displaying his works in local shows and classroom exhibits, while at the same time, gathering   insight and technique through experience, comparison and exposure. For a period of time after high school, and without the direct encouragement of his school mates and the school staff, Herschel laid aside his brush and paints in pursuit of "normal" post-high school lifestyle expectations. It was the encouragement of his future wife that later brought him back to the easel.

In part thru experimentation and an overabundance of curiosity that he began working with multiple mediums... acrylics, oils, watercolours, and pencil.   Oils and acrylics added "body" to his works, as well as, as a means to express his desires for blending and shading. He began on paper, but quickly became aware of the potentials inherent to working on canvas. Herschel is a wet-on-wet painter as it allows him ample time to make changes and to blend his colors before the paint becomes unpliable. Herschel tries to bring to the canvas both visual interpretation and personal experience... an addition of subtle changes and meaning. Herschel - as you will see in the gallery below - has a special affinity for florals and figurative skin tones... he finds great enjoyment in bringing these to the canvas. If Herschel were to name two artists who affect his work the most he points without hesitation to the works of Michael Godard and Eric Herrmann...  artists to he - in one way or another - strives to emulate.

The Steele Pointe Gallery is still in its initial stages of working with Mr. Fall.  The gallery shown below is incomplete... more images, descriptive materials and prices are yet to be added... however, we thought it important to get Herschel's works on the screen as expeditiously as possible.  Within the next couple weeks we will be meeting with him and viewing his work in person.  As soon as this meeting has taken place the missing items will be added.  In the meantime, if you have questions about Herschel's art or would like to determine availability and pricing, please feel free to contact the gallery at 937.322.0400 (Gallery phone) or our business cell phone, 937.284.2472.
