"Adobe House" by Kate Fallucca

*Gallery note... I chose this particular image from Kate's portfolio because I am especially fond of brassy sepia tones, which, in many ways, is so fitting for this image of a Southwestern adobe home. Note the enhancement and fulfillment of the image a the very interesting, full horizon cloud array background.  There are several very appropriate frames for this image which would greatly enhance the overall presentation.

"Bean at the Bottom" by Kate Fallucca

*Gallery note... Quite possibly it was too many years in front of the sci-fi movie screen that drew me to this image... the remembrance of the seamless spacecraft on whose  surface we could see the reflection of our human fears. The shapes and the wavering lines of the building join together to create an appealing combination of contrasts.

*Gallery note... my rural upbringing drew me to this image as I am sure that many of you will have like memories... of the small township and Grange Halls dotting the rural landscape. This image is a nice combination of lighting, shadows, contrasting colors and shapes.

"Burlington Farm" by Kate Fallucca

*Gallery note... black and white photography has a special purpose and this is a good example of that purpose. If we believe that the image is worth a thousand words than the black and white is the ideal medium for doing that, without the distracts created by color.  There's a story in this farm, a little Andrew Wyeth, a great deal of rural culture and a great deal more regarding the chronology of this farm's development.

"Up the Down Staircase" by Kate Fallucca

*Gallery note... besides the spiraling design, what attracted me most to this image was the combination of pastel colors in the staircase.  My only regret regarding the image is the rectangular boundaries imposed on the image by the camera.

*Gallery note... again, the story told by this image is greatly amplified by the absence of color distractions. As strange as it sometimes seems, decay seems to come much more rapidly with the absence of human life within. Regardless of the attempt, the bed springs hampering entrance to this structure have not slowed the deterioration.  

"Chicago River Sunrise" by Kate Fallucca

*Gallery note... in contrast to the image just above, the absence of human movement adds considerably to the message of a new sunrise. The serenity of the water, the absence pf rippling around the boats, and the soft morning glow embracing the structures make this image especially appealing. This would be especially great in large format with a single layer of off-white matting and a simple black metal frame.

"McHargue Mill" by Kate Fallucca

*Gallery note... the simple, small early American mill nestled alongside a gentle, but sufficient, stream makes this image appealing.

*Gallery note... having a very small Lakota heritage, but sharing a larger early Native American philosophy, makes images such as this especially appealing.  Just as with the civilization that lived at Machu Picchu, one has to wonder what changed that caused ancient peoples to abandon these communities and what happened to the people and the innovations and order these civilizations brought about.

*Gallery note... this image appeals to me for simple reasons... its simplicity and the bringing together of an appealing mixture of objects and conditions.  I don't know if there is a story associated with this black and white, it is just an appeal.

*Gallery note... okay, this might not appeal to all... but, if you are like fun pet images, this has its place.  I have two cats and two dogs and I am always amused by their actions and lack of inhabitations.

*Gallery note... most likely this is going to have a greater Springfield, Ohio appeal than it may have elsewhere.  Snyder Park is a central feature on the city and there are few who have never seen this bridge.

*Gallery note... I found this image to be a great balance of depth, color and movement. The meandering of the river through the islands and the rippling of the waters gave me a lot to enjoy.

*Gallery note... this image is nicely filled with great color, especially fine lighting and very good contrast. The chambers, the walls and the walkways are teasers for the imagination.

*Gallery note... this is the first piece that I have selected from Kate's portfolio which shows a different side to her photography.  I'm a Spring and Fall guy and these Hyacinths mixed with a peek at other emerging plants in the background was sweet.
