with a degree in Fine Arts (Studio Art) and has received several prestigious
awards for her artwork including the Yeck College Fellowship Award from the
Dayton Art Institute.
Georgia is a difficult artist to describe, as with her work, Georgia is a well of infinite depth and imagination... she can do classical work with great skill when she wants, or she can create mythical worlds and inhabitants as if she sees them stand right before her. Georgia's our youngest artist and because of her youth I keep wondering what she'll be doing five years from now... but, you know, I've now begun to wonder what she'll be doing two months from today... and I look forward to that moment with great anticipation... she's really the artist to follow... and, to collect ... at all stages of her development. Here, let her tell it to you in her own words...
"Swirling and curving elements are a prominent marks found throughout my work... often as independent stylizations, but also as a part of the basic design structure... such as with the figures' gestures and their placement within the painting. This spiraling is a natural rhythm for me... in part recalling the motions of dance,,, a wave...or a favorite childhood pastime of spinning myself into a state of dizziness and collapse. Through the use of saturated colors and varying degrees of stylization I try to evoke a sense of magic and myth which is fathomable to the viewer. Through positioning and the use of gesture, I believe that I am able to convey a wide range of emotional states in the figures... giving each of these archetypal creatures a human-like quality. The images, whether of an angel, or, a horse, or a mermaid, come from ideas and images in my head about literary characters... or, sometimes mixing with my emotional state of mind."
"I work in acrylics, oils and all manner of media... including 3-dimensional. My art tends to be very expressive and whimsical because I really enjoy finding new and interesting to create. My paintings normally include a lot of experimental markings... while being secure in the knowledge that I can paint over them at any time. A good half of my mythical personalities are painted without under-drawings... I love the creative feeling of working without a plan. And, when I keep my expectations in check, I find that I end up with some delightful, unpredictable creations... and often times characters I had not expected to meet."
