Photographer - Sculptor - Painter - Printmaker
Frank
Richards, in addition to being a good friend, is an artist with a deep
well of artistic interests mixed with a generous coating of personal
philosophy. Of all the artists associated with the a Gallery, Frank is
probably the most complex and durable of them all. He constantly strives to
express, in one artistic form or another, that which he feels the need to
communicate through art.
Frank's art has both abstract and realistic qualities, though they seldom mix. When we first met, Frank's art consisted largely of the random patterns generated and created by the interactions of liquids on a non-porous surface. By adding stress, in one form or another, the interaction - or lack of interaction - created geode-like beauty and qualities. These were Frank's ink-droppings.
Ink-dropping were followed by a mixed period of sculpture and painting. His stone sculptures took on the shapes of both complex abstracts and simplistic sails. Created in both alabaster and marble, the beauty of the stone and the complexity of the message mixed in visual and tactile sensation. Frank's watercolours, pastels and oils are a combination of color-rich abstract-ism and impressionistic-realism. These were followed by a short period of wood-block printmaking.
Frank's most recent works are a trilogy of separate - yet inter-related artistic forms.... photography, pencil drawings, charcoal depiction and caricature.
With all these forms occurring as closely as they have, one can only begin to imagine how they might come together in artistic expression.
The galleries presented below are works from Frank Richard's art portfolio. The galleries are in random, more based on my ability to compile the images rather than an expression of either chronology or importance. I have endeavored to separate them into sub-areas of art forms.
A price list for Frank Richard's works follows the galleries.
