Environmental Creations by Sculptor Barry Stein
Barry
Stein and the Gallery share a deep concern for the environment. During a
recent web browsings for an art print being offered by an acquaintance in
support of a seriously ill friend the Gallery stumbled onto a Mr. Stein's global
wildlife creations and we became instant fans. Mr. Stein has agreed to
allow the Steele Pointe Gallery to display and offer his works to our viewers...
the images shown below is the beginning of that relationship. We are very
please to be able to offer our clients the artwork of Pacific Northwest sculptor
Barry Stein.
From Mr. Stein...
"Artists can be inspired by a variety of driving forces, but
sometimes it's something as simple as the natural beauty surrounding them that
takes their work to a whole new level."
World renowned Oregon sculptor, Barry Stein has creations gracing the most prestigious art collections around the world... the Pentagon, Senator Gordon Smith's offices in Washington D.C. and Oregon, just to name a couple. Mr. Stein's sculptures have been presented by our National Executive Office as gifts to foreign Heads of State.
His work is currently on display in the Waldorf Astoria in New York City, the New York Hilton, the New York Essex House, the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas and galleries throughout this country, France, Germany and the United Kingdom.
Sharing the beauty of Mother Nature is the focus behind the work of Barry Stein. His unique carvings depict the beauty of nature and highlight the artist's sensitivity and appreciation for earth's creations. Mr. Stein is a self-taught artist from the Pacific Northwest . Mr. Stein continually challenges himself with a variety of artistic medium. With a well-honed insight for animal behavior and physiology, Mr. Stein blends his talents with the intrinsic beauty of wood to create elegant and dynamic works of art.
Mr. Stein's current focus has been
to create an essence of wildlife in wood to be followed with the creation of a
bronze masterpiece utilizing the lost wax methods of casting. He has found that
an original carving in wood far exceeds the detail of clay.
Lost Wax Method
Bronze sculptures are made using the "Lost Wax
casting method". A bronze sculpture is first done in wax or wood. Then a mold is
made... from the mold comes a wax casting. The wax casting is dipped in ceramic
to make a hard shell. The wax is melted out of the shell and the liquid bronze
is poured in. Heat is applied to the sculpture, and a variety of chemical
patinas are applied, producing the colors seen on Mr. Stein's sculptures. A
limited number of each piece is produced.
As a result of his innate love for nature and her creatures, Mr. Stein has emerged as one of the Pacific Northwest's premier artists. It is Mr. Steins intention to inspire the admirers of his art to protect and preserve our unique and wonder-filled environment and all the creatures that live in it.
The Steele Pointe Gallery has completed its negotiations with Mr. Stein and is now able to offer his art at a discount to be absorbed by the Gallery. The Price List at the end of the gallery now reflects this agreement.
