Galleries is a
section of the website devoted to displaying art and other items
(you'll have to see what is listed below to understand why we aren't
being more specific) which are not part of the works of our artists.

(Note: The Steele Pointe Art Gallery and Art
Brokerage (Steele Pointe, Ltd.) strongly encourages in-person
inspection of items by the buyer. Statements made by the Gallery
regarding the condition of objects are for guidance only and should
not be relied upon as statements of fact and do not constitute a
representation, warranty, or assumption of liability by Steele
Pointe, Ltd.. All items offered are sold "AS IS".) The Estate of Dr. James Walsh, DVM The items within this gallery have been consigned to the Gallery for sale by Dr. Walsh's sister. Nearly all the items are limited edition art prints... there is one original pencil drawing. These are works of art which were displayed in Dr. Walsh's office and home. All of these pieces are framed... most of the frames are quality wood frames with only cosmetic marring. At the moment all of these prints and the original drawing appear to be in good condition, however the gallery has not disassembled any of these framed prints for closer inspection... all dustcovers are intact. Most of these framed pieces have been in their frames for ten years or more and a few of the mats are showing a browning of the core material, in these cases, the gallery recommends re-matting and the inclusion of current day conservation grade materials to ensure a long art-safe life.
The Estate of Dr. Lester & Mrs. Pearl Stein This gallery contain works of art purchased by Doctor and Mrs. Stein and consigned to the Gallery after Dr. Stein's passing. Nearly all of these works were purchased in the mid-1900's and at that time these artists were relatively unknown. Of the works remaining in the collection... two artists John Friedlinger and Czene Janos Apatfalvi, have become "known" artists whose works are sold in auction houses both in Europe and the United States. A recent sale of a Friedlinger painting, very similar to the one shown in this gallery, sold in the Atlanta metropolitan area for $4,800. This painting, and the two pieces by Apatfalvi that the Gallery has on-hand, are excellent, period works of art for addition to the decor of historic homes of owners wishing to maintain the authenticity of the period. Alternative and appropriate alternative framing is available from the Gallery. The smaller pieces - all originals - are an eclectic mix of original oriental art and childlike fantasy.
Gallery-Owned Rarities 1-A (The London Times, June 1815) This is the first of several galleries featuring rare items collected and framed by the Gallery. The gallery contains an original June 22nd, 1815 edition of The London Times. On June 22nd, 1815 The London Times published the dispatches of the Duke of Wellington to Downing Street reporting his defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte at Waterloo on June 18th and 19th. This is a one hundred ninety-three year old document and is extremely rare. Go to Gallery-Owned Rarities I-A Gallery
Gallery-Owned Rarities 1-B (Antiquities and Antiques) The focus of this gallery is on antiquities and antiques collected and framed by the Gallery. Among the items herein are early photographs, tintypes, pre-Columbia fragments, pre-1900 prints and engravings. Though not always impossible to find, these items have been collected and uniquely presented by this Gallery as a finished work. Enjoy both the item and the excellent presentation. Consignment Art Gallery 1-B (Robert Wood) This gallery contains only one work of art, that being an "Evening in the Valley" by American artist Robert Wood (1889 to 1979). Robert William Wood paintings are highly collectible with the greatest interest seeming to be for pieces considered "Western". In 1924 Mr. Wood moved to San Antonio, Texas and - according to some - achieved artistic maturity while studying under Spanish artist Jose Arpa. The piece being offered in this gallery is dated 1941, the cusp year between Wood's "American and California Eras". The highest recorded auction sale for one of Robert Wood's originals is slightly over $45,000 and that painting like this one was dated 1941. Here are some of the specifics not mentioned in the gallery notes... this painting is in excellent condition, there is no noted chipping or cracking . There is a "dimple" in the canvas - about the size of the end of a finger - in the tree tops to the left center of the painting. The colors are bright, which would suggest that the painting it is not in need of cleaning. The gold frame shows age and cracking on the surface (but no breakage or imminent breakage), most of the cracks run perpendicular to the painting. There are some edge scrapes and small chips on this frame. The gallery will not be offering this painting to an auction house for sale, it will sell from this location. The Gallery is offering a $500 finder's fee to any one person assisting in the referral of a buyer of the painting. If you or someone you know is interested in this painting, please contact the gallery. (937.322.0400) Go to Consignment Art Gallery 1-B
Consignment Art Gallery 1-C (Bev Doolittle) This gallery consists of limited edition prints by the well-known American artist Bev Doolittle. There are fourteen (prints) or sets of prints available, some duplications. Two prints are framed - "Eagle Heart" and "Prayer for the Wild Things". Both framed prints are in excellent condition and nicely framed. All other prints are in their original envelopes. Many of Ms Doolittle's works came with something additional, such as a compact disk or book... two of our prints are accompanied by these inclusions, others may not be. Most of the paintings in this era of Ms. Doolittle's art took on a western or wildlife context, and many of the characters or creatures were camouflaged... for instance, "Prayer for the Wild Things" has 27 species and 34 animals hidden in the print. These prints are highly collectible and the prices and numbers in the editions highlight this fact. Go to Consignment Art Gallery 1-C Gallery-owned Prints (Wildlife) The Steele Pointe Art Gallery, Art Brokerage and Custom Frame Studio owned a number of Artist's Proof, Limited Edition and Open Edition prints. All prints, unless otherwise noted, are on paper. To assist the viewer, the galleries for these prints will be divided into categories with the final category to be for "Others". This gallery is for "wildlife"... prints of wild horses will be in a gallery for horses... prints for a "wild life" will be under "people" or "fantasy" !
Gallery-owned Prints (Horses, Dogs, Roosters, and Seals) This gallery consists of an assortment of other animal prints, considered less "wild" than lions and tigers and bears... Nestled among these gallery-owned prints will be some artist-owned originals and prints... the one thing they have in common is that they are all currently in-house at the Gallery and readily available to the buyer. If the viewer is interested in additional horse-related prints, please check out the Walsh Estate Gallery listed above. |
