We are a
Gallery, a Brokerage and a Custom Frame Studio
New Art Sales
The Gallery offers
both originals and limited editions by local
artists and non-local independent artists. The Gallery is a dealer-partner
with major art publishing
houses such as Greenwich Workshop, Somerset House, Collector's
Edition, Mill Pond Press, Hadley House, Wild Wings, and Wild Apple.
Though we are unable to display the entire offerings of any one
artist on this site, we do attempt to provide a sampling
of their work for your consideration. If you find an artist whose work
draw your attention, please contact us so that we might provide you
with additional images or links to sites displaying the artist's work. Links
are provided to the publishing house sites... surrounding these links
will be a selection of images from some of my favorite artists, please
take the time to visit the site and return here for additional
information and gallery pricing (*). As we are able, we will provide a
link to the websites of our local artists.
(* As an
artist/publishing house representative we are able to negotiate
price-favorable advantages for the buyer. )
Secondary Market Sales
Secondary market sales are described as subsequent sales after the
initial first sale of the artwork. Secondary market sales are an
extremely valuable asset to the collector, providing an avenue for
purchasing works of the Old World masters, sold out limited editions,
rare and unusual artifacts, etc.. The Gallery provides a
secondary market monitoring and buying service in both the
European and U.S. markets. Through worldwide tracking
services the Gallery is alerted to upcoming sales involving high value
and highly collectable artists. Once alerted the gallery
contacts the customer-requester to determine his or her interest in the
item being offered. Based on the client's desires the
Gallery presents a proxy bid, arranges for the payment
of fees and taxes, packaging, insurance, and
shipment. Secondary market Gallery services
are not based on a percentage of the final bid, but on a combination of
factors linked to the difficulties associated with the logistics of
the purchase and movement of the art.
Consignment Sales
Consignment sales are normally associated with estates, relocations,
downsizing, and changing relationships. Normally, estate art is
offered by the Gallery for a pre-arranged time period or possibly
longer if space is available. Consigned art will be either
original or limited edition pieces in good or excellent condition. Many
pieces were purchased during the mid-1900's as originals ...some of
the artists were collected and others were not. Very few of the
originals have gone to print which makes the purchase of one of these
originals a unique acquisition. In addition to being
displayed on this website - in cases where the artist is a "known"
artist in U.S. and European auction houses - the art is added to
international sales websites. If you have an interest in one of
these original or limited edition works, please contact the Gallery.
Art Restoration
Art restoration is a skilled and sometimes costly service...your
expectations are high and we deliver ! For these reasons, we
have chosen
a restoration partner with exceptional skills and reputation - Old
World Restorations in Cincinnati.
When do you need restoration services? ...when the
piece is a
high value antique or work of art, when the item has great sentimental value, and/or when
the item is simply "irreplaceable". Conditions constituting a
need for restoration services ... works damaged by the elements (through
neglect, water,
dirt, insects, and deteriorating materials); when the piece is torn or broken (artwork,
frames, reliefs, antiques, antiquities); or when your art or valued
piece is
in obvious need of cleaning, repair, re-varnishing, relining, and
touch-up. The Gallery provides transportation for the art,
obtains estimates, negotiates costs, inspects the completed work, and
returns the item to the owner. The overall cost of this service
is normally less than if you had made the arrangements... the gallery
pays the same price that you would pay, but receives a percentage from
the partnership which is shared with you, and we save you the time and
expense of travel and negotiations.
Artist
Representation
Representation of local artists is a free service of the Gallery.
The Gallery currently has thirty-four "local artists that it displays
from time to time. The service is limited to the placement of no less
than two original works, and the possible inclusion of several bin-displayed
works. The exception to this policy occurs while an artist is being
"showcased".
Currently, the Gallery has a dozen "showcased" artists. Showcased artists are artists whose works
are considered to have a wider appeal because of niche value or
uniqueness.
Custom Framing Services
Custom Design and Framing
Custom designing a framing package is a two-stage process.
The first involves the customer providing the gallery with
specific indicators of their needs and desires, such as color and style matching, size, budget, moulding and glazing
preferences.
Having established some perimeters to work by, the studio creates a
minimum of five possible framing
options for consideration. The second half of the process happens when the customer
returns to the gallery to review the proposed combinations. If
the customer is not satisfied with the initial panel of combinations,
the process is reviewed and a new panel is created.
The Gallery is committed to providing
the highest quality wood and metal mouldings... we offer A.P.F. Munn
(14th-18th Century replacement frames), Concerto by
Larson-Juhl (early European styling), Mercier (leather-wrapped frames
from Peru), Larson-Juhl Craig Ponzio and Classic lines, Nurre Caxton, and the Nielsen.
Only museum and conservation-grade materials are used in all our
creations, our art is archivally mounted, and every piece is hand-crafted.
Re-framing
During the last decade, there have been scores of improvements in the
creation of materials used for today's
framing. Mat and mounting board have become virtually acid-free
and the glass is close to 100% ultra-violet protective, and reflection-free. Framed
art completed before 2000 may be showing telltale signs of
material breakdown, such as browning of the core and discoloration of
the surface paper. Deteriorating materials damage art and
greatly reduce its value. The gallery provides inspection and
reframing services... disassembly, cleaning, replacement, and
minor damage repair. Major damage is referred to our restoration
partner, Old World Restorations.
If there are any questions
regarding these services, please contact us.
